John M. Krings Jr.
John Krings is a seasoned business attorney who brings a unique perspective to finding resolutions to complex business challenges. Combining his law background and an MBA in finance and management, John provides efficient and effective representation to a multitude of companies in several different industries. Krings has spent the last 4+ years at Kaler Doeling PLLP. Prior to joining the firm, Krings spent the prior 22 years between private practice and serving as in-house general counsel.
Krings’ private practice includes experience as general counsel services for many internet, retail, manufacturing, service, construction, and financial services organizations. He has organized profit and non-profit corporations, LLCs, partnerships and joint ventures, and has drafted stock options, financing agreements, employment agreements and purchase and sale contracts. John has also been involved in a multitude of M&A transactions and commercial transactions including representing lenders in secured transactions as large as $125 million. John has litigated contract disputes, construction defects, real estate transactions, corporate, partnership and joint venture disputes, and employment disputes.
John has also acted as in-house legal counsel and COO for Erbert & Gerbert’s Sandwich Shops, more than doubling the number of franchised locations during his tenure. John oversaw all legal matters for the company, including negotiation of all franchise agreements, lease negotiations with multiple local and national based landlords, and negotiated all national supplier agreements. John oversaw the Operations, IT, Purchasing and Training departments. This significant in-house corporate experience enhanced John’s ability to understand the needs of his business clients. John has also served as CFO/General Counsel for a Fargo based general contractor. John has had significant experience in negotiating lump sum and cost-plus contracts, construction subcontracts, supplier agreements, secured transactions, real estate, and lien notices in North Dakota, and Minnesota. John also has a vast knowledge of construction processes and International Building Code compliance as he has taken and passed the Minnesota building contractor examination.
