Kip M. Kaler

Kip Kaler has practiced law, primarily in North Dakota and Minnesota but also admitted in several other jurisdictions, since 1981. For the last 30 years Mr. Kaler has limited his practice to agricultural, business, construction and bankruptcy law. He first represented farmers in large Chapter 11 reorganization cases in the mid-1980s, and has been involved in numerous bankruptcies since. He has represented farmers in many different types of disputes including irrigation, drainage, boundaries, chemical drift, lender disputes, and many different financial issues.

Mr. Kaler has been involved in numerous business formations and disputes for corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies and those individuals participating. This includes member/stockholder/partner in disputes/dissolutions/reorganizations, and defense of their actions or actions against others. Mr. Kaler has also been involved in many disputes between debtors and creditors, representing both sides in those type of issues.

Mr. Kaler has a number of regular construction companies he represents, and frequently represents owners, contractors, and lenders in construction disputes. Mr. Kaler has been involved in many disputes in the last 30 years, some resolved without litigation, some through mediation and arbitration, and a few through a full trial and appeal.

Mr. Kaler has also had an extensive bankruptcy experience. Besides representing farmers, business people, and construction interests in bankruptcy proceedings, he has also represented the debtors, general creditors, and has been a bankruptcy trustee since 1994 and began representing bankruptcy trustees in 1984.  He is thoroughly familiar with all bankruptcy processes.

There are numerous reported cases involving Mr. Kaler, available upon request, in each of the fields cited above.  It is our intent to protect or recover our client’s interests, to the best of our ability at an economic cost proportionate to our client’s goals.  Mr. Kaler’s general mantra is, “we are not a cost, we are going to save you money”; the key to these matters is helping the client set a realistic goal and recognizing early the point of diminishing returns on the client’s investment in the dispute.
